TEAR National Conference 2008

Date: 25-27 July
Details:

On Earth as in Heaven.

A pie-in-the-sky projection? Or a promise on which to build our lives and communities?

A call to action for the church? Or a threat to our vested interests?

Are we really sick of waiting, of poverty, sorrow and pain?

Then what are we doing to bring God’s new world into being?

Bring your longings, questions, fears and hopes to TEAR’s Australia’s national conference and TEAR Fest.

It will a time of challenging Bible teaching, encouraging fellowship and spiritual nourishment; a place to glimpse the future God has planned for the world and to be reinvigorated in the mission Jesus has given us; and an opportunity to pray for, hope for, and work together for Heaven on Earth.

Key Speakers: Vinoth Ramachandra from Sri Lanka, Ched Myers and Elaine Enns from the US and Moore College’s Greg Anderson from Australia

Is it better to pay down the mortgage or invest more in super?

Date: 10 June
Details: advertorial

Mortgage versus super: take a different approach
For many people, their first thought when they come into extra money is to plough at least some of it into the mortgage - but this strategy isn’t always the right one.

It can be beneficial for people to make additional contributions to their superannuation through salary sacrificing (where people divert money from their wage into their superannuation fund before their wage is taxed).

The benefit here is they are then taxed at only 15 per cent (the current tax charged to put money into a superannuation fund) and not at the much higher rates many people pay through income tax.

all about creating communities of Christian care

Date: 10 June
Details:

advertorial

Anglican Retirement villages will seek to work together in a manner that reflects God’s love, best demonstrated in the example of Jesus, in order to meet the physical, social, spiritual and emotional needs of our residents and community clients. This is our Christian witness.

“Creating Communities of Christian Care.” It’s an expression you hear a lot around Anglican Retirement Villages. But to us, it’s more than an expression. The words are our Vision statement – describing our goal in caring for older people and the passion of our staff in achieving it.

If our Vision is our “destination”, our Mission Statement expresses our “journey” to that destination:

“Motivated by God’s love through Christ, we will provide care and services that promote the well being and enrich the lives of older people.”
